Hardware Tester is a growing set of free tools that check your computer's hardware - webcam, microphone, keyboard, mouse, controller and display. The moment you open the page. No sign-up, no downloads, and nothing you test leaves your browser.
Checking whether a device actually works shouldn't mean installing dodgy software or trusting a page that streams your camera to some server. We built Hardware Tester to be the tool we wanted ourselves: instant, honest about what it finds, and completely private.
What it does
Each test targets one piece of hardware and gives you a clear answer: working, or here is exactly what's wrong. Today you can run our keyboard test to check every key, spot dead or stuck keys, and measure rollover and ghosting. More tests (webcam, microphone, mouse, controller, touchscreen and display) are on the way.
Privacy by design
Every test runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs. There is no backend doing the work: what your camera sees, what your microphone hears and what you type stay on your device and are never uploaded or stored. Read the details in our Privacy Policy.

Anyone setting up for a video call, troubleshooting a device before a warranty claim, checking a used laptop before buying, or making sure a new peripheral behaves. If it plugs into your computer, we want to help you confirm it works.
